Are Starry Nights Important?

April 14 @ 6:00 pm 7:00 pm

The League of Women Voters — Roseville Area presents Are Starry Nights Important?: Why Darkness Matters for People, Birds & Wildlife.

Join us guests Todd Burlet & Kiki Sonnen as they explain why protecting natural darkness matters for human health, wildlife and the wonder of a star-filled sky. Discover what our community can do to bring back the night.

Bring your questions for the Q&A portion.

Todd Burlet is the president of Starry Skies North, a nonprofit organization dedicated to combating light pollution in the Upper Midwest. He is also a delegate for DarkSky International, which combats light pollution and preserves star-filled skies on a global scale. Burlet is a lifelong amateur astronomer.

Kiki Sonnen is a St. Paul Audubon Society board member and lifelong St. Paul resident. She co-founded the Pig’s Eye Coalition to preserve the park’s heron and egret rookery.

This event is co-sponsored by Do Good Roseville, Ramsey County Public Library and Resilient Roseville.
