Finding Your Roots Genealogy Seminar

September 21 @ 5:00 pm

The Roseville Historical Society invites you to the Finding Your Roots Genealogy Seminar, hosted at the Roseville Oval Fireplace Room.

Volunteers from the Harriet G. Walker Chapter of the NSDAR will be sharing research strategies and genealogy website information to help in starting your family tree. A slideshow, handouts and a Q&A is planned as well. They will also provide information on how to become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and will check the DAR website to see if you have a DAR patriot in your family tree.

How is a Patriot Defined?
DAR recognizes patriots not only as soldiers but as anyone who has contributed to the cause of American freedom through other patriotic acts and civil duties. Women are patriots, too! 250 years ago, American patriots fought and sacrificed for the freedom we enjoy today. As a member of DAR, you can continue this legacy by actively promoting patriotism, preserving American history and securing America’s future through better education for children.

Who is Eligible to Join?
Women 18 years and older regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, who can prove lineal descent from a patriot of the American Revolution are eligible for membership. Service must be between April 19, 1775 (Battle of Lexington) and November 26, 1783 (withdrawal of British troops from New York). We will assist you and provide guidance to document your lineage.
