Edward J. Sypniewski, Jr. (1948-2026)
Edward Sypniewski, Jr. of St. Paul, Minn. passed away peacefully on Friday after a battle with cancer. He was 77.
Sypniewski had a wonderful, loving, adventurous life. He will be remembered as the lovable part-owner of Red’s Pizza, where he gave many neighborhood kids on the East Side their first job. He also loved his time as the volunteer “mummy” for the St. Paul Police Department haunted house, the Dungeon of Horrors. Sypniewski had a deep faith and was a practicing Catholic until he passed.
After a brain aneurysm on Friday, Nov. 13, 1969 at just 21, Sypniewski decided to make 13 his lucky number. He saw that day as the day he survived, not when his life became harder. Fittingly, he waited until Friday, Feb. 13 for his life to end.
Sypniewski was preceded in death by his parents Violet and Edward Sr. and sisters Sharon Marie and Lynda. He is survived by his sons Edward III (Katie) and William (Tara Dougherty), grandchildren Jameson, Sabrina, Parker, Finley and Sullivan, and many other family and friends.
