Joetta Frances Harrington (1939-2026)

Joetta Harrington, née Kilroy, of St. Paul, Minn., passed away on Sunday. She was 87.
Harrington grew up in St. Paul on the West End. She attended St. Francis de Sales High School from 1953-54 and graduated from St. Agnes High School in 1956. After graduation, she worked for 3M from 1956-1967, then for Minnesota Mutual Life/Securian from 1980-2002. She was also an active member of the Holy Childhood Women’s Club, loved to check out an estate sale/garage sale, gardening, collecting clocks, cooking/baking and traveling south for the winter after retirement.
Harrington was preceded in death by her son Steven, parents Joseph and Mary Ellen (Augustine) Kilroy and sisters Jane Bement, Mary Ellen Wheeler and Dona Dunn.
She is survived by her husband of 63 years Kent “Lefty”, children Michael (Shelley) and Nancy Harrington (Brian Sugrue) and Kelly (Brian) Johnson, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and sister Kathleen Marac.
Visitation 4-7 p.m. on Monday, May 11 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home — Roseville and 9-10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 12 at the Church of the Assumption, 51 W. 7th St., St. Paul, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m.
Private interment at Roselawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Our Lady of Peace Hospice & Home Health Care.
Kenneth E. Newton (1934-2026)

Kenneth Newton passed away on Monday. He was 91.
Newton was dedicated to his family, a hard-working provider, and a devout Catholic. He was an avid ham radio operator, loved working on his computers, taking daily walks and taking care of his yard.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Mary, children Carla (Bradley) Anderson, Bob, Dennis, Julie (Eric) Skogrand, Jim (Molly) and Lisa (Mark) Bianchi and grandchildren Nathan, Jared, Will, Anna, Sam, Maggie, Abby and Max.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 8 at The Church of St. Jerome, 380 E. Roselawn Ave., Maplewood, Minn. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
Private interment at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery in White Bear Lake, Minn.
David A. Shores (1941-2026)

David Shores of Maplewood passed away peacefully with loved ones at his side from complications of Alzheimer’s Disease on Monday. He was 86.
Shores was born in Towanda, Pa. to Walter and Ethel Shores. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Towanda High School in 1958. He earned a Bachelor’s, Master’s and PhD in metallurgy and material science from Penn State University, then continued his postdoctoral studies at Ohio State. In the fall of 1982 he moved to Minnesota to teach at the University of Minnesota. He taught in the Department of Chemistry and Material Science until December of 2014.
Shores was a skilled woodworker and enjoyed sailing, fishing and photography. Another favorite pastime of his was playing Pinochle with his family.
Shores was preceded in death by his parents Walter and Ethel, brothers Llewellyn, LaVern, Edward and Norman, sister Frances Lewis and granddaughter Zoey Tran.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 40 years Teresa, son Geoff, daughters Kate Grandprey-Shores and Ellen Tran and grandchildren Cecelia and Ezra Tran.
A memorial service will be held at Galilee Lutheran Church, 145 N. McCarrons Blvd., Roseville on Monday May 18 at 11 a.m. Visitation at the church from 10-11 a.m.
Ann Marie McCarthy (1968-2026)

Ann “Annie” McCarthy of Maple Grove, Minn. passed away on Friday. She was 57.
McCarthy was born on Sept. 26, 1968 in St. Louis Park, Minn. to Barbara and Blaine Borchers. She attended St. Catherine University in St. Paul for her Bachelor’s degree and Saint Mary’s University in Winona, Minn. for her Master’s in Psychology. She ran her own recruitment firm and worked as an executive recruiter for over 25 years.
McCarthy was a beloved mother, sister, niece, aunt and great aunt. She will be remembered for her integrity, loving spirit and selflessness.
She was preceded in death by her parents Barbara and Blaine Borchers.
McCarthy is survived by Ken McCarthy and their two sons, Ryan (fiancée Jamie) and Daniel, her fur-babies Rosie and Keely, aunt Jane Holbert Almanza, siblings Elizabeth Borchers, Catherine (Steven) Gustafson and Robert (Tina) Borchers, 10 nieces and nephews, 16 grand-nieces and -nephews and dear family friend Rob Kleven.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 8 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home – Roseville. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1-2 p.m. on Friday.
