Police received reports of loud parties in community rooms at Midland Grove Condominiums, but can’t confirm existence of trend

The Roseville Police Department has responded to two incidents in the past two months involving young adults trespassing and holding loud parties at Midland Grove Condominiums.

The first incident occurred on May 10 around midnight and the second occurred June 26. No arrests have been made for either incident, and a police report was filed for the second incident but not the first.

Tracy Olson, the property manager, said the police department estimated about 200 young adults, ages 18 to 22, were in the community room May 10.

“The room was trashed, you know with beer cans and booze bottles,” she said, adding that nothing was vandalized or stolen.

Olson said the community room is only accessible with a key and does not have security cameras.

“Somebody either let them in or they piggybacked somebody and then let everyone else in,” she said.

According to the June 26 police report, a large group was having a party in the parking lot and someone threw a rock through a window.

The report says that one person entered the building, obtained a key to the community room and posted information online about a party at the condominium.

Resident Shannon Bradford said Midland Grove residents are looking out for one another.

“The teenagers started coming in but right away residents started calling the police,” she said.

Olson said they are upgrading security measures at the condominiums by converting all interior doors to key fob access and installing security cameras in the community room.

Last summer, KSTP reported that law enforcement were aware of a trend in crime called “flash mobs.” This included an incident in which more than 40 people entered an apartment building in St. Paul, held a party and caused damage.

Roseville Police were unable to confirm that the two Midland break-ins are a part of a larger trend.
