Roseville Police announced Friday, Aug. 14 that two arrests were made in connection to over 30 residential burglary incidents in the city and across the metro area.

According to an RPD statement, “Both individuals have now been charged with two counts of First Degree Burglary of an Occupied Dwelling related to the Roseville incidents. Additional felony charges have also been filed.”

The same day, they released a community alert with guidelines for residents to protect their property:

“We’ve seen a recent increase in residential burglaries in Roseville, and similar incidents are happening in communities throughout the metro area.

In several cases, suspects have taken advantage of unlocked doors, open garage doors and unlocked vehicles. In some instances, garage door openers or keys found inside unlocked vehicles have been used to gain access to garages and sometimes homes.

A few simple habits can make a big difference:

  • Close and lock garage doors, service doors, and doors leading into your home, even when you’re home or just stepping away.
  •  Lock your vehicle. This includes vehicles parked in your own driveway.
  • Take your keys and garage door opener with you. Don’t leave them inside vehicles parked outside.
  • Keep valuables out of sight. Avoid leaving vehicle keys, wallets, purses, or other valuables near doors or easily accessible areas.
  • Lock the door between your garage and home, especially overnight.
  • Consider extra security. Exterior lighting, cameras, and other security measures can help deter unwanted activity.
  • See something suspicious? Call 911. Do not approach or confront suspicious individuals.

These burglaries aren’t limited to Roseville— they’re happening throughout the metro. Taking a few extra seconds to lock your doors, secure your vehicles and bring your keys inside can go a long way toward keeping your home, vehicle and neighborhood safe.”
