Food insecurity doesn’t have a face or a neighborhood. Those living around us can be struggling without our knowledge. The holidays are a wonderful time to help fill shelves at Keystone Community Services, Open Cupboard and the White Bear Area Food Shelf.

Three Ramsey County libraries are collecting food donations during library hours until Monday, Dec. 15:
- Maplewood (3025 Southlawn Drive)
- Roseville (2180 N. Hamline Ave.)
- Shoreview (4650 Victoria St. N.)
Library hours:
- Monday – Thursday: 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
- Friday and Saturday: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday: Noon to 5:00 p.m.
Most needed:
- Cereal, grains, rice, masa, bannock mix
- Gluten-free items
- Canned fruits and vegetables
- Canned chicken, tuna, salmon
- Tofu (shelf-stable)
- Cooking staples: oil, sugar, flour, etc.
- Spices, seasoning, condiments and sauces
- Microwaveable meals
Not accepted:
- Perishable items, including bread and potatoes
- Expired food items
- Items that have been opened
- Non-food items (clothing, furniture, toys, etc.)
Monetary donations should be made directly to the food shelf organization.
