David Lee Turner III (2002 – 2026)

David Lee “Boogie” Turner III of Minneapolis passed away on Feb. 2 following a shooting in the West 7th neighborhood of St. Paul, Minn. He was 23.

Turner loved karate (a childhood passion), basketball, writing songs/freestyles, listening to music and spending time with family and friends. He had just gotten his own apartment and was going to pursue his GED next. He had aspirations of flipping houses.

According to Turner’s family, “He wanted to take his life seriously, to a whole other level and accomplish big things. Every move he made was to be a better human and to better the ones around him.”

He was preceded in death by his fathers Jesse “Meche” Powell and David Turner, Jr., sisters Angelica and Ashley Turner, great-grandmother Doris Luzaich and many other dear relatives.

He is survived by his mother Nicole Luzaich, siblings De’Andre, Ashia and Sajaya Turner (Jovan Chevre), Cierra Stevenson, Jamirah and Shamera Powell, grandmother Shelley Luzaich, many nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation 11 a.m. – noon on Friday, Feb. 20 at Mueller-Bies Funeral Home in Roseville, followed by a funeral service at noon. Please wear Red to honor David.

Internment at Crystal Lake Cemetery, 3816 N. Penn Ave., Minneapolis.
